popping and alluring, it s a tale like no other out there, and the only story I could possibly compare it to would be Alice In Wonderland, as it possesses the same dream like, mesmerizing and mind twisting quality, only, instead of lengthy passages, you get a condensed, easy to swallow in one bite delicious treat An absolute must check outYou re at both the end and the beginning of the world, Lance, she said The ocean is a blank canvas for everything that is to come, and everyone who steps into the forest plays a hand in its creation With every new thought, the tide moves out further, and the forest grows largerAt merely 12 pages long, Blink is definitely not a very time consuming read, but most certainly one that you will want to dive into It has everything a good short should have compelling premise, excellent and satisfying plot line complete with great conclusion , and a very memorable sneak peak into the world that could potentially become a background for a phenomenal full blown novel Our hero, Lance Beckett, a seventeen year old high school student from Canada, steps into the majestic woods overlooking the small town of Angel Falls The forest is no ordinary one, it has a very bad reputation in town and everyone stays away from it The regulars in the diner said that it was infested by madness and anyone that wandered inside was lost forever Lance knows very well he should stay away from it, yet overwhelmed by curiosity he decides to take a chance and explore a bit From the moment he steps inside, weird things are starting to appear before him, and it s almost as if he got a sun stroke and his mind wandered off into some incredibly cool and wicked la la land He finds himself in the kingdom born from fantasies, dreams and nightmares of people who just like himself recklessly entered it The air crackles with sparkly magic, the clouds in the sky look just like the reflection you d see on the surface of an emerald lake, bubbles explode in cascades of silvery sand Magical creatures everywhere including dragons and gigantic spider like women , imaginary girls, and a gypsy goddess this world is mind blowing and oh so poetic Lance has to find a way out of this place, before he himself becomes a permanent addition to this fantasy realm Lesson to be learned don t ever take shortcuts through magical woods Not unless you re prepared to follow Alice s footstep and fall into the rabbit wholeHere s a kiss wrapped in a falling star In short I loved it There s no way to describe just how insanely good this short story is It s not only the magnificent world creation and the originality of it, but also Llyod s excellent writing style that make this novellette stand out It s, hands down, one of the best shorts I ve ever read and if you can spare half and hour please, do read it It is so worth the time I was literally blown away by it Rating 4.5 Blink was such an imaginative and vivid short story It was full of danger, excitement, and fantasy. It was great seeing and experiencing everything from the descriptive eyes of our hero, seventeen year old Lance, as his curiosity got the best of him and he wandered the eerie woods located in his small town of Angel Falls But as Lance soon learns, the whispered stories of the forest weren t just tall tales, and with every blink of his eyes, his surroundings change, and Lance is in for Rating 4.5 compellingly sinister Amaisia Moon.I really enjoyed this one Muchthan I expected to, actually Blink was such a thrilling and enchanting story, bursting at the seams with imagination and color it s also a very short story, holding its own at just 12 pages Mr Poast did an amazing job not just telling us, but showing us everything this story has to offer Filled with an interesting cast of characters, there was never a dull moment I was lost in the mystical woods right beside Lance, and I experienced every twist and turn with him first hand.Though I at times found it hard to relate to Lance, I still though he was an okay character and seemed like a nice guy All of the other characters, I LOVED.As Lance explores the woods, lost to everything besides the pounding of his heart and the occasional scream he meets some of the most captivating characters I ve ever read in a short story The smart mouthing eleven year old Shane, the confused and amusing biker Nail, the intriguing Chatterbox, and of course, the wicked top hat wearing Amaisia, ringleader of all things terrible and sure to send a chill down your spine They were all characters that I longed to knowabout, but felt completely satisfied with by stories end.Mr Poast has an amazing eye for description, and just the imagination to go along with it.This story was creepy, captivating, magical, and one of a kind It goes without saying that I wish it were a full length novel If you re looking for something not at all time consuming, full of action, adventure, fantasy and thrill look no further Blink is the perfect October read that will leave you thinking about it long after you ve read the last page, and wondering just what will become of all these characters that you can t help but be fond of I received this book in exchange for an honest reviewDon t look over your shoulder,Don t look in the skythe ocean is a stranger, the sun is a lie Blink Wow just wow Blink by Lloyd Poast was really good I didn t expect to like it this much This book was a short but amazing story I could imagine everything that was so vividly described I absolutely loved reading every word of it I actually couldn t get through the book fast enough and yet I didn t skim anything I could totally see this becoming a full novel and even a series one day maybe It all had a Alice in Wonderland feeling I couldn t help but even a series one day maybe It all had a Alice in Wonderland feeling I couldn t help but notice the similarity, which I think was awesome because I love the Alice in Wonderland story As a matter of fact, if you like Alice in Wonderland dreamlike I m on drugs and trippin stories you should really check out Blink The story revolves about 17 year old Lance, who one day takes a short cut through some woods after a top hat caught his eye And then the shit hits the fan Right from the moment he walks into the woods everything seems to burst into a weird choas With every blink of an eye there are dancing trees, strange creatures, people from all around the world who also have wandered into the woods and girls from his imagination And of course also the goddess Amaisia Moon she s on the cover with the tophat and masque and everything , who sort of rules the place Lance has to find a way out of the magical woods before he s stuck there forever with no way home This story was so magnificent that I can t stop thinking about it I keep seeing the story as a movie inside my head I can clearly picture all the characters Lance, Melissa, Shane from London, Amaisia and some others Also the creatures and surroundings were amazingly described It really is like a modern Alice in Wonderland story as I said before One of the best short stories I ve read so far So that really does say something about how wonderful it was to read this I just love how Lloyd Poast described everything in such a poetic and brilliant way I would recommend this to everyone who likes anything in the fantasy genre and all the subgenres If your looking for a short story that has imagination and magic in it then you should read Blink Right from the beginning when you start reading the story you feel stars because I really liked it a lot 3.5 stars, but I like to round up I m a little torn on this one The writing is good, and the story itself is very imaginative and descriptive The idea is intriguing every blink changes Lance s surroundings, bringing new characters as well It s a little bit jolting, although it s supposed to be I mean, not much can happen between blinks.I did at one read, and for the most part I enjoyed it I have to admit, though, that it sports one of my biggest pet peeves incorrect ellipses Just me being picky, but an ellipses looks like this Or, with ebooks, it s becoming popular to use which also kinda bugs me, because it s just not the right way shrug I know, it s just me Most people probably wouldn t even notice. Some things I loved The descriptions were very well done It reminded me of one of the best episodes ever made of Doctor Who with the whole don t blink thing. It s definitely worth the 20 minutes to read it This is a short but very imaginative read The descriptions are so vivid you find yourself getting lost in the magic world even if only for a short time At first I felt the story was a little disjointed with characters and new themes just coming out of the place from every angle but once my mind caught up and realised that this is exactly how it s supposed to feel like I managed to settle into the imaginative world and enjoy the ride. This story has a very similar feel to Alice in Wonderland wit This is a short but very imaginative read The descriptions are so vivid you find yourself getting lost in the magic world
