What struck me about this book was the honesty of the characters Nothing was sugar coated or dressed up for appearances sake The motives and the choices of all three main characters make are probably closer to reading someone s mind who was in that situation, than fiction. The fact it was written in the first person really allowed you to peer into the characters psyche and understand their thought processes Anna and Helena are flawed and rather selfish people, who make decisions based on what What struck me about this book was the honesty of the characters Nothing was sugar coated or dressed up for appearances sake The motives and the choices of all three main characters make are probably closer to reading someone s mind who was in that situation, than fiction. The fact it was written in the first person really allowed you to peer into the characters psyche and understand their thought processes Anna and Helena are flawed and rather selfish people, who make decisions based on what is best for them It might not make them truly likeable but it makes them real.I myself am guilty of saying in my head Oh no Anna, you should have done this but it is easy to judge from the outside That is the hallmark of a very well written book, you don t have to agree with everything that is being done but you understand why it is happening.Be my baby isn t a tradition
