Compared to the first one for me this one was surprisingly good I wasn't a huge fan of the first one But this second one really fills in the gaps develops the characters and definitely gets grittier and less preachy This one is all about the details really showing the fine line between practicing what you preach and being a Child of the Earth And the devil is definitely in the details The last few chapters were so well done I hung on every word as I waited to see how it would all turn outThis author had guts to move this series this direction and really end this one this way Well done 45 Stars I love Anna's writing so descriptive and intriguing that I really got wrapped up in the story I've been disappointed by a few books I've read recently both with the plot and poor writingediting so this one was pure pleasure I re read End Times right before I started this one so I was ready for the adventure to continue I am by no means a religious person nor do I engage in religiosity My religious beliefs are simple and I will not go into great detail I received Children of the Earth as a Christmas gift With that being said I was incredibly skeptical about reading a religious based bookI enjoyed this read Daphane appeared to struggle with her own thoughts on religion and being a prophet as well as her past She is romantically involved with a man who the book depicts a dark love and has his own internal and emotional struggles Daphne applies a lot of effort for acceptance from her remaining family as well the residents of Carbon County Ultimately a war between The Children of The Earth and The Children of God engage in battle where Daphane must make an impossible choice For being a religious based book and a book outside of my genre I enjoyed the read Not what I expected Fantastic Story Loved the characters Kept me turning through the pages to see what happened next This is marketed as a children's book but I would not recommend it to younger than 15 It is definitely a PG 13 or better book I always worry about books that are somewhat based on Revelation I thought this book was going that way but in the end the true picture arrives Good and evil are not distinct No one is purely good or evil Good message So while from its cover I thought I would hate the book it was decent I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway listed by the author I love this book even than the first one The plot in this one goes along a lot uicker than the first book did Also this one delved in to describing the characters and was very detailed Not gonna spoil anything there This one had less religious scenes so that freed up space to write about the actual plot so that was nice Overall this was a good read and liked it than the first one GREAT conclusion to End Times The story was fast paced and filled with adrenaline Although I did find the ending kind of abrupt and I was left with a few uestions But no author can ever leave me without at least one unanswered uestion Not one bit of this book was boring It was pleasantly sprinkled with plot twists in all the right places Really enjoyed reading the End Times twosome reviewing for Booklist YA Books Central review Not a huge fan of the Rapture prophets etc but forgetting all of that the story was interesting Although the ending was sort of depressing I was glad to finally find out about the warprophecy
