There is no deception on the merchandise it is indeed a zombie apocalypse narrated by a solitary hero A classic though, with the originality of adding a nuclear war only there as a decoration and a third threat a vampiric one, no less And something tells me that the little green aliens are not so far.It is well written, efficiently conducted, the characters are correct, there is only one narrative point of view It has everything to please me, and yet I haven t been totally hooked.Probably There is no deception on the merchandise it is indeed a zombie apocalypse narrated by a solitary because it lacks a little suspense and humor for my taste And there is a deja vu side in the plot that gives a strong impression of already read.Must prove itself in the next episode I honestly don t really know what to say about this It s pretty short and is a prequel I think to the series Maybe I should have red book 2 first because this was sorta weird This focuses on Aidan Sullivan He was alone when the initial outbreak took place so didn t know about it Now what bothered me about this bit was Aidan somehow got pneumonia and that s the explanation on why he was out of it for 2 weeks It s easy happen of course, but felt a little too convenient Plus the whole way I honestly don t really know what to say about this It s pretty short and is a prequel I think to the series Maybe I should called Sully, then at the very end he said he was called Scratch I know he evolved as a character, but at no other time did he mention Scratch I m still scratching my head too on where the Aliens came from One second he is killing Zombies but then this thing comes and he is battling Aliens In all, I just felt like I missed a lot of the plot and I didn t really connect to any of the characters I might continue on with the series but I m not sure yet It just didn t grab me S.W Salzman was really good, though I did feel that some of the sound effects were unnecessary If you are doing sound effects, you either do it throughout or not at all, not throw them in every so often Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed his performance as he had plenty of tones and voices and read it well I was voluntarily provided this audiobook for free from the author, narrator, or publisher This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts Good and DifferentFor all you Zombie genre freaks out there, like me, don t pass this one up It s unique and has a slant that even you, I will bet money on, won t see coming Well written with characters you can believe are actually someone similar to someone you know It s a must read I am a recent convert to the Zompoc mania, but have loved vampires for a long, long time I didn t realize when I started this book that I would be getting a dose of both electrical grid think EMP attack and Aiden is determined to get to his parents home in Austin However, when he starts out on his quest, he discovers that not only has an EMP type event occurred, there are also people rising from the dead to attack other people Not wanting to believe in a zombie apocalypse, Aiden decides to call these creatures Deaders He quickly learns how to find them, how to kill them and mostly how to survive Since he is basically a good guy, he helps other survivors along the way, including a dog, a family with young children and a young boy named Rayden. But, this is not the entirety of the story After Aiden and Rayden are imprisoned by a group of quasi military types, he finds out that some people are disappearing from the compound When the young mother sharing their room is killed and her young daughter taken, Aiden decides to go hunting What he encounters can only be described as a vampire The story was well written, the characters were engaging and likeable or hateable, as the case may be , and the action was plentiful There was the obligatory description of weaponry that is pervasive in this genre, but not so much as to be an overload I laughed, I cried, I empathized with the struggles as Aiden tries to reach his beloved parents S.W Salzman continues to be one of my favorite narrators, especially for books about the Zompoc He does his usual amazing job in this book and adds a lot to the story Even the author s penchant for minute details about Sully s route to reach his parents is not boring in Mr Salzman s capable hands I will admit that I didn t really care for the sound effects used in this audio version of the book IMHO, they really didn t add anything to the story and in fact they bordered on irritating But, all in all, a greatly entertaining book about zombies and other creatures Zombies vampires humans collideTHEM Invasion by M D Massey and narrated by S W Salzman is an exciting take on the zombie vampire genre Would recommend if these are your typical read or looking for something new What s it about Aiden, aka Sully, is in town when some weird not so good events take place with tourists and illegals Afterwards, picks up, it s difficult to put down If you start listening and are thinking meh, stick with it I listened to it in one sitting There is some humor, along with sound effects that help to make it stand out from others in the genre If you are a prepper or z lover, you will probably have a better appreciation for this book Nice to see characters who are wise instead of repeatedly doing stupid moves.S W Salzman was fantastic as the narrator This is the second book I ve listened to him narrate and he did not disappoint He is going to give some other very well known Sci Fi Post Apocalyptic narrators a run for their money I look forward to his future narrations and will be adding him to my list to watch where their careers go I enjoyed the added sound effects.Overall, I d recommend It peaked my interest enough that I want to check outin the series Parental advisory trigger warnings The beginning has a good amount of talk about illegals border patrol war Some swearing throughout Main character suffers PTSD from his time in Afghanistan Shooting killing of zombies vampires with guns weapons Abusive step father physical mental abuse Death of humans I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review Thank you for allowing me to listen and review the book Invasion follows Aidan who walks into the bush on a normal day and three weeks later walks out to an apocalypse The plot was good with plenty of action, suspense and battles I liked how Massey included everyday necessities, like scavenging for supplies, into the novel Most of the action was intense, even when the reader knew where the plot was going I thought the nuclear bombs on top of a supernatural uprising was too much though, zombies created enough drama There were bombs on top of a supernatural uprising was too much though, zombies created enough drama There were too many plot points that had me a shaking my head The one that really stuck out for me was the final scene featuring both of Aidans parents There was a room full of people who were willing to help so I don t understand why Aidan and his mother felt it was only up to them Texan pride maybe The writing style was good and I give Massey credit for trying to be humorous, even if it wasn t actually funny My favourite line was screw me blue and call me Willy Wonka Aidan was a stereotypical fictional apocalyptic survivor He was ex army, male, smart, gun crazy with an impressive arsenal, could McGuire anything and had spare parts for everything, than any normal person world Case in point, Aidan just happened to have antibiotics with him when he went into the bush so when he developed pneumonia he could tough it out in the woods I understand it was necessary for plot development but doctors don t just give out antibiotics for a just in case scenario Overall it was a good, typical apocalyptic novel I really liked the blend of monsters as it wasn t just zombies I plan to continue the series Good storyThis was an overall good story We get some zombie and alien Vampire action There was a little relationship bonding, but not really as much as I like in a dystopian novel The line wolf thing in dystopian stories sorta defeats the purpose of a good one I love reading about how strong relationships are forged in the hardest of times and circumstances When you take that away you have a hollow story It can t just be about survival Survival needs friendship, heart and passion to make Good storyThis was an overall good story We get some zombie and alien Vampire action There was it exciting and actually worthwhile The best parts of the story were the few times he bonded a little with others Of course being the lone wolf he shook them off as soon as he could And therein lies my problem so far with this story Yep, caring for others can be an exploitable weakness, but it s also a formidable strength It s times like these you need someone to have your back Unless Massey changes his current lone wolf formula, it all leaves the reader feeling empty This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here First, the narrative was believable They way it was written seemed real enough, written in a manner that the one might believe that Aidan would speak But the action was stiff and rushed I guess after reading DJ Molles, Nicholas Stansbury understanding of how you got from A to B In this book I understand that the initial problem was a nuclear attack I don t understand what causes the zombies much less the vampire spider crabs Plus there s nothing that really connects you to the main character He has nothing to ground him, We don t connect with his parents until it s too late So we don t have any emotions that tie us to his loss He finds a dog surrounded by zombies and saves her, only to give her to the first family he comes across Even with that, the father is as bland as white toast There s so much opportunity to make something incredible from the premise but it was a hit and major miss Wiggled its way into my psyche.and I had some bad dreams But exciting The start of the apocalypse is frightening similar to current affairs And, I know well the roads this young man travels to reach his parents and the country he traveled through, such that as I was reading, i was considering alternate routes Hence, the disturbed sleep Thanks for a good adventure. Good Start This was a good start to this paranormal series It was a quick and interesting read I did have a problem with a couple of words, but that was just my personal gripe If you like vampires that don t glitter and zombies I think you will like this series I gave it 4 out 5 stars.
