Describes a father daughter fishing outing, beginning with the predawn preparations for the day Gentle Castillo illustrations evoke the warm relationship between father and daughter, and the unhurried pace of a day on the lake Father s Day tie in also adjectives, colorful language, theme K 3rd. Genre Realistic FictionCopyright Date 2009This was a sweet book about a dad and a little girl spending time together fishing While I enjoyed the story overall, I felt like the story was rather simple This was probably the author s intention though It is a fun book to read, but I don t see a lot of ways to use this book in a meaningful way in the classroom. This is a story of a little girl going fishing with her dad and knowing what to expect from her father cause that is his way I was never quiet enough to fish with my dad and I think that is why we did not do it alot so I was impressed she was having that much fun Too quiet for me to this day Ages 4 Reminds me so much of my relationship with my grandfather,Papa Joe This will be a great mentor text to use in writing workshop for both narrative and essay writing too Will be a great book for me to also use to model making personal connections to a text. This book is a bit timely since a little girl recently caught a 20 inch bass with a pink plastic Barbie fishing pole my son has a red plastic Spiderman fishing pole so I know how effective they aren t The real life story was a bitentertaining, but this still is a pretty good book. A great quiet picture book text. Papa and his daughter go fising A perfect story for Dad s looking to teach their kids to fish, or just to enjoy a nice book together. This is a nice personal narrative which might be a great writing model for 1st and 2nd grades Easy to point out simile and nice repeated phrase Papa and a little girl go fishing.
